Virtual Recital Information

Participation
We would LOVE to have you all participate in virtual recital, but we also understand that this is a stressful time for many families trying to juggle work, child-care, school, health concerns, and just...well...everything.  Don't feel that your video needs to be perfect.  Don't feel like your dancer's dance needs to be perfect.  We would love to have you participate and celebrate your dancer's hard work this year, but also, we 100% understand if you do not want to participate.  If it will add stress to an already stressful life, we understand.  Please just let us know (preferably by email) if we should not be expecting a video from you for virtual recital.

Costume Delivery
All costumes have been delivered.  If you have not received your costume please email us and include your current address so that we can quickly determine if it was delivered to the wrong place.

When at all possible, we combined all costumes for a family into a single bag, so if you have one costume but don't see the costume for your second class or for a sibling, look carefully inside the bag for the first costume.  It should be there.

On your class content page, under Virtual Recital, you will see a costume information sheet PDF.  This sheet contains a list of items that your costume should contain as well as the hair style and make-up for your class including things like hairpiece placement. Reminder that you can access your class content page through your Parent Portal.

Costume Fit
While we carefully measured all students and factored in growing room before ordering, occasionally costumes still do not fit perfectly when they arrive. Please try your costume on immediately, check it against your costume sheet (discussed above) and let us know immediately of any major issues, keeping in mind that there will be little we can do as far as exchanges given the unique situation of this year, but we do have extras of some costumes or pieces and will do our very best to assist/advise with any issues that may come up.

Dress Rehearsal
We will use your regular Zoom class as a dress rehearsal the week of June 1-6. Dancers up through level 2 should wear their costume to Zoom class so that the kids can experience dancing in their costumes and so the teacher can make any final adjustments. Level 3+ dancers should bring their costume with them to class and have their recital hair style in place, but will change into their costume toward the end of class.

If possible, we suggest you then do your filming and video submission immediately after their Zoom class.  Your child will already be in costume and the dance will be fresh in their mind.  We know this won't be possible for everyone, but if you can, it's a great option to get it filmed and submitted efficiently! Here is the link again to reserve private studio time for filming if you do not have space in your home or appropriate outdoor space.

Filming
Full instructions, tips and tricks for filming are in this PDF which is also linked from your class content page, but here are the most important parts:

  1. Film in HORIZONTAL position (hold your phone sideways, not up-and-down)
  2. Students should dance along with the "With Beeps For Filming" audio or video.  This will be linked up on your Content Page by Sunday May 31st (some are already there)
  3. Make sure the beeps at the beginning and the beeps at the end are BOTH audible in your video.
  4. If your child is dancing along with a demonstration video, try to film from directly above the screen that they are watching the demo on.  This will help ensure that they are looking at the camera as much as possible.
  5. If you are filming a Tap dance, try to film in a quiet location to increase the chances that the production company is able to incorporate your child's tap sounds into the final video.
  6. Film in HORIZONTAL position (seriously, this is SO important)

Uploading Your Video
Unless told otherwise by your teacher, all video uploads are due by Sunday June 7th.  Each Class Content page has a link under Virtual Recital labeled "Upload Video Here" (by Sunday). Just visit that link from the device where you recorded the video, and upload it to that site.  You will be asked for your name when you upload - please use your STUDENT'S NAME, not your name.

Soloists, duets & trios will be emailed their upload link as well as which recital show you have been placed into.

The Final Product
The final videos will debut at our fabulous online recital live-stream event!  All families will be given a link to view the live-stream, as well as a web-based text chat room invite where you will be able to comment on and discuss the recital as a Perfect Pointe Family as it streams. If you haven't already, make sure you invite all your friends and family to this livestream event!  In addition to the dances themselves, their will be a few special events and recognitions you won't want to miss!

  • What was originally the 1pm recital will livestream on Saturday 6/27 at 2pm
  • What was originally the 4pm recital will livestream on Saturday 6/27 at 4pm

Livestream and chat links will be sent out closer to the event.

In early July, we will send out links for you to download your own personal digital copies of each individual dance that you were in as well as each full digital show that your dances were part of for you to keep forever and share freely.

Classes Continue Throughout June
Don't forget - we extended your Zoom Classes (at no additional cost to you) through Saturday June 27th including Customer Appreciation Week during that final week.  We're excited to play some fun dance games and work on some technique these last few weeks of class.  For those on monthly tuition payments, your June 1st installment will be your final installment.

Don't Lose Those Skills, Register for Summer!
Yes, we are offering weekly Summer Dance classes via Zoom as well as virtual Summer Camps.  If we are allowed to offer limited in-person classes this Summer and can do so safely, we will - but virtual will continue to be offered no matter what, all through the Summer.

Let us know if you have questions, whether it's about Virtual Recital, Summer Classes or registering for next School Year.  We're excited to bring this School Year session to a fit and exciting conclusion!
